The other day I had this very rude realization: it’s the end of October already! It happened when another artist asked me if I’d be participating in the annual open studio event during the first weekend of December. Up until that point I had still thought it was September! I’ve decided to join in the 30+ year tradition and open up my studio too.
During the open studio I’ll have work for sale in the front room, and options for fun activities in the work space. I’ve also added another kids class on Sunday where we’ll sculpt snow people and other fun creatures. Plus there’s still a few spots in the Friday night class for adults where we’ll carve luminaries! I hope you’ll join me!
During the past few weeks I’ve had the opportunity to meet other artists in the studios near mine. It’s really nice to be surrounded by people working in so many different mediums, and to talk with them about their work and their art practice. Many members of the ceramics collective have been there since the 70s! They have such a wealth of knowledge to share. Salty Dog Studios, Bazaz Glass, and Liz Ruest will also be opening up their studios that weekend; so much local art to see in one place!
Please stick with me while I work out how to segment out the class interest list from the other email list - the one where I write more about process and share my general musings. Substack is still a new platform for me and some things seem to be a bit harder to find!
