I had my list of ideas, and dates all written down. And then I had the (benign yay) lump, and an acute respiratory incident, and then, to top it all off, I threw out my back. The universe appears to be telling me something, and it is slow down! And so, from my little cocoon on the couch, surrounded by my inhalers and bottles of muscle relaxers, I am sending this email to say that I am not going to be teaching classes at my studio this spring. Womp womp!

I will still be teaching a lamp making workshop at Ballard Clay, so if you’ve been wanting to build a lamp, get on it! The class is almost full, and it’s going to be really fun! We’ll be hand building lamps out of coils, and then coming back together after they’re fired to wire them.

Plus some exciting news! My work is featured on the WCA annual poster this year! I can’t wait to see the poster in person!

Hopefully March will bring a respite from any further health complications and I can get back to working in the studio soon!

We’ve been working hard in the studio to get it ready to welcome people in for fall classes. The front gallery space is still in progress, but the studio work space is really coming together!

I’ve updated some of the fall offerings and added new ones! I also reorganized the website layout to make it easier to see classes by age.

The preschool (2-5) class will now be for five weeks on Tuesday mornings. We’ll be exploring clay and getting messy! The main focus is on sensory play, but we’ll have a few more guided projects as well. Think leaf impressions, using acorns to make texture, and painting our clay creations before they go in the kiln.

The kid (5-9) classes are mostly full, but there’s still one spot left for the ornament workshop in December!

Tweens (11-13) can sculpt their pet or favorite animal, using a photo from home as a reference.

Spoooky creatures and tea light luminaries!

Adult (14+) classes include a few spots left in our spooky workshop on Friday, October 13th. We’re going to make ghost tea light holders and spooky little pumpkins! In December we’ll carve intricate details into thrown cylinders to make glowing luminaries.

Plus! A spicy adult (18+) class is scheduled for November. Take a peak!
